History

It started when some truly wild and wacky women decided to do something different, combining the Alaska spirit of giving with a unique local staple – duct tape. Around a Denali campfire, the Duct Tape Ball was born in the year 1998 b.d.t. (before duct tape). Black-tie embellished with duct tape was a sticky requirement. Live auctions would be outrageously tacky and "no rubber chicken" became a mantra that stuck.

Sticking together Alaska style, this spec“tac”ular event has grown into one of the premier parties of the season with participants adhering to the rules of dressing in elaborate creations of duct tape and giving with generous hearts to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities.

The Duct Tape Divas are proud of their tacky heritage, creativity and fans! Duct Tape Ball followers stick with the event year after year, bonded together in fun and a charitable spirit. You won’t believe your eyes – duct tape cars, pirate ships and yes, even Elvis has made an appearance at The Duct Tape Ball! It’s all put together with a national sponsor, ShurTech Duck Brand Duct Tape.

This is one event where the entire town sticks together!
